Dan Leach
Dan Leach grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, a city whose suburban landscapes and layered histories left a lasting imprint on his imagination. After graduating from Clemson in 2008, he has taught writing at various schools across the state, including C.A. Johnson in Columbia for several years and, more recently, Charleston Southern University. Dan’s first book, Floods and Fires, was called “beautifully written and soul-shaking” by George Singleton. He followed Floods and Fires with Stray Latitudes, a collection of poetry which won the Southern Breakthrough Award from Texas Review Press. His most recent book, the novel Junah at the End of the World, won the South Carolina Novel Prize from Hub City and received a Kirkus starred review. Michael Bible wrote of Junah, “Dan Leach has managed to write a hilarious and touching novel about grieving for a dying world. Junah at the End of the World is a period piece that echoes our own age of anxiety rendered with mercy and love. Dan Leach is a bold new voice from the South, among my favorite writers working today.” A graduate of Warren Wilson’s MFA program and a lifelong Southerner, Dan currently lives in Summerville, SC ,with his wife and four kids.
