R.T. Ester

R.T. Ester lives just outside Dallas, Texas, where he works full‑time as a graphic designer and spends his off-hours raising three young kids with his wife. In addition to design and family life, he writes tense, character-driven speculative fiction that has appeared in such publications as Interzone, Clarkesworld Magazine, and Asimov's Science Fiction.

His debut novel, The Ganymedan, is out now from Solaris Books and has enjoyed critical acclaim, including a starred review from Publishers Weekly for its meticulous technical detail, its sharply drawn characters, and its insights into an all too possible future where humans must coexist alongside their sentient AI creations. The novel follows a fugitive mixologist and an outmoded sentient spaceship on a high-stakes journey across the solar system, exploring themes of agency, the nature of consciousness, and the cost of seeking justice on your own terms when the system in place for it is inadequate.
