Valerie Burns is the author of multiple mystery series. Writing as V. M. Burns, Valerie has written three mystery series and two short stories. THE PLOT IS MURDER, the first book in her Mystery Bookshop Mystery series was nominated for the Agatha Award for Best First Novel. She has also written the Dog Club Mystery Series, and RJ Franklin Mystery Series. Writing as Valerie Burns, she has written the Baker Street Mystery series. Writing as Kallie E. Benjamin, Valerie published her Bailey the Bloodhound Mystery Series. She has been featured in Crime Reads, Suspense Magazine, Writers Digest, the NY Times, and was interviewed by Callie Crossley for Under the Radar on NPR.

Valerie holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, a Master of Science in Administration from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University where she is also an adjunct professor.

In addition to writing, Valerie is a member of Sisters In Crime, Crime Writers of Color, Dog Writers of America, International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America, and was recently elected president of the Southeast Chapter of Mystery Writers of America.

Born in Northwestern Indiana, Valerie now lives in northern Georgia.
